Tempie Lurea Lindsey Bond Williams

1924-2007

Tempie Lurea Lindsey Bond Williams, 82, of the Terry’s Creek community, died March 8, 2007, at her home surrounded by loving family.

Visitation was Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church and continues today from 1 p.m. until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Fortenberry will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Kentwood, La., to T.W. and Rosa Lee Cummings Bond. She was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and was an avid gardner. She was blessed with the ability to make anything grow. Through her love of flowers and plants, friends and family, “Aunt Tempie” touched the lives of all who knew her. She was rooted and established in love and made her home and her life a place where all were welcome.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Lindsey III.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Earl Williams and friend Sarah Jordan, and Wendell Wayne Williams and wife Connie, all of Terry’s Creek; one daughter, Dot Reeves and husband Abe of McComb; four brothers and their wives, T.W. Bond and Glenda of Conroe, Texas, John Milton Bond and Inez of Terry’s Creek, Bobby Bond and Cathi of Houston, Texas, and Joe Bond and Beverly of Baton Rouge; eight sisters, Bessie Maxwell, Geneva Wall, Ida Mae Carter, Viola Bennett, Margaret Cutrer, Thelma Guillory, Betty Howell and Virgie Slaven; six grandchildren, Tammy Reeves Wells and husband Nathan of McComb, Jason Reeves and wife Stacy of Magnolia, Dr. Rob Williams of San Francisco, Melissa Campbell and husband Patrick of Summit, Chrissy Edwards and husband David of Gulfport, and Betsy Williams of Terry’s Creek; eight great-grandchildren which includes three sets of twins, Brooke and Taylor Wells of McComb, Kaleb and Kaitlyn Campbell of Summit, Kaden and Kylen Reeves of Magnolia, Jaylee Reeves of Magnolia and Madyson Edwards of Gulfport; one brother-in-law, Walter Williams; three sisters-in-law, Olive Lord, Jeanetter “Pete” Williams of McComb and Catherine Brown, all of Terry’s Creek; two special cousins, Daniel Green of Amite, La., and Rosa Lee Myers of Crowley, La.; a very special friend, Mandy Nunnery of Terry’s Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Wells, Jason Reeves, Chuck Tate, Clark Wilson, Tay Bond, Maurice Williams, Don Gilsdorf and James Williams.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam, Lee Edward, Clifton and Robby Williams, Paul McCain Jr., David Edwards, Mike Travis and Patrick Campbell.
