Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Silver Creek Baptist Church, and 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services are 2 p.m. in J.H. Brumfield Cemetery, with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brumfield was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Pike County to Jesse Ephraim and Hope Barr Brumfield.
He was a retired probation/parole officer with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1950 graduate of Tylertown High School and received his bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State University in 1955. He was an active member of Silver Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Mr. Brumfield was active in the fight against cystic fibrosis after his family learned of his great-grandson’s CF diagnosis in 1999. He initiated the Cystic Fibrosis Charity Gold Tournament held each year since 2002 at the Fernwood Country Club. It will be held on March 26, with the help of friends. Those who have helped with the tournament are James Brumfield, Norwood Bultman, Ronnie Frazier, Anthony Sassone, Jerry Stogner and Russ Stogner.
Mr. Brumfield never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by those who knew him fondly as Mr. Tommy, Grandpa and Paw Paw.
Mr. Brumfield was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jamie Brumfield, Monroe Brumfield and Ray Ellis Brumfield; and a sister, Norma Jean Garner.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Ruth Harvey Brumfield of Walker’s Bridge; a daughter, Myrna Casciola of McComb; three grandchildren, Anna Casciola Lott and husband Landee Sr. of McComb, Lauren Casciola Ginn and husband Josh of Brandon, Allison Casciola of Brookhaven; two great-grandchildren, Brett Anthony Lott of McComb and Landee Robert Lott Jr. of McComb; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.
