Rhoda Tippie

1935-2008

Rhoda Joan Tippie, 73, of Summit, died May 11, 2008, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, after a long illness.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, then 9 a.m. Thursday until services there at 11 a.m. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Mrs. Tippie was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Cox’s Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. She was the daughter of the late John Lowder and Norma Pearl Abbott.

Mrs. Tippie was of the Southern Baptist faith. She retired as a behavior shaping specialist from the Louisiana Mental Health System. One of her greatest loves was being outdoors, where she enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and gardening of fruits, flowers and vegetables. She also volunteered as a camp host at Florida state parks. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of nine years, Richard D. Tippie of Summit; a brother, Garfield Janes of Lanark, Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Florence VanBuren of Winona, and Agnes Leach of Grimsley, Tenn.; two sons, Kenneth Rowe of Gurly, La., and Lonnie Rowe of Clinton, La.; three daughters, Virginia Parker of Summit, Norma Rowe of Metairie, La., and Mary Rowe of Ashburn, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Rhonda Warner and Josh Jackson of Jackson, La., Melissa Rowe of Port Vincent, La., Adam Rowe of Gurly, Brandy Rowe of St. Francisville, La., Richard Warner of Valley Garden, Ala., Robert Warner of Columbus, Ga., Christopher Rowe of Douglas, Ga., Anthony Harrell and William Cooper of Tifton, Ga., Bub Sonier of Austin and Ronnie Sonier of Harlingen, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Bethany Warner of Savannah, Ga., Mikayla Cooper of Nashville, Ga., Hailey Sonier, Aden Sonier, Makenzie Sonier, Ronnie Sonier and Joshua Sonier of Harlingen; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Tippie, Gordon Robertson, Jim McCullough, Richard Warner, William Cooper and Robert Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ramage Parker and Bub Sonier.

Richard, Virginia, Kenny, Norma, Lonnie and Mary.. I am so sorry we loss Aunt Rhoda... God has taken another angel home, just last year we were exchanging emails trying to plan a fishing visit here in Florida. My heart goes out to each of you.  I have many great memories of all of you of which Aunt Rhoda was always part of.
