James Thomas “Jimmy” Sumner, 55, of
McComb, died June 26, 2007, at his residence
following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Visitation is 1 p.m. Friday at Jones Family
Funeral Services in McComb, until services
there at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Demond
Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in
Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Sumner was born July 28, 1951, in Fort
Smith, Ark. He was the son of the late James
Lester “Les” Sumner and Joyce Dean Thomason
Sumner.
He was a machinist for Tyler Tools. He was a
member of the former Locust Street Baptist
Church and attended Magnolia Church of God.
Before his health began to fail, Mr. Sumner
was a bicycle enthusiast. He loved to ride
and could be seen miles from McComb enjoying
what he loved best.
Survivors include one sister and
brother-in-law, Charlotte and Jerry Rhodus
of Magnolia; one nephew and his wife, James
and Linda Rhodus of Magnolia; one
great-niece, Jade Rhodus of Magnolia; three
aunts, Marie Stephens of Stuttgart, Ark.,
Jean Thomason of Magnolia, Ark., and Maurine
Thomason of Austin, Texas; one uncle and
aunt, Leo and Betty Sumner of Rock Springs,
Wyo.; and special friends, Benny Joe and
June May of Summit.
Pallbearers will be Bob Thomason, Jimmy
Webb, Donald Webb, Stanley Richardson, Jason
McCullough and Bill Stephens.
