William Randolph “Will” Soyars, 44, of Raymond and formerly of McComb, died June 23, 2007, at his residence in Raymond.
Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, and
9 a.m. Friday until services there at 10 a.m., with Dr. Mack Amis
officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Soyars was born April 20, 1964, in Danville, Va., to Nancy Ferguson
Soyars of McComb and the late James W. Soyars.
He served in the U.S. Air Force with a tour of duty in Germany, and worked
as a data systems manager for the state of Mississippi. His family said that
he was an avid reader, history buff and enjoyed nature trips with his
daughter. He graduated from McComb High School, Southwest Mississippi
Community College and Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. He was a
member of Pine Lake Baptist Church in Brandon.
Mr. Soyars was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Jesse and
Evelyn Soyars; and his grandfather, Hughes R. Ferguson.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy Ferguson Soyars of McComb; his maternal
grandmother, Eunice L. Ferguson of Clemson, S.C.; one daughter, Laura Shelby
Soyars of Yazoo City; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg Soyars and wife
Beth of Alpharetta, Ga.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Catherine
Sanders and husband Sam of McComb.
Pallbearers will be Mark Baxa, Dr. Oliver Young, Paige Howell, Vince
Woodcock, Shelton Whittington and Ed Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be
Judge Keith Starrett and Dr. James Brock Jr.
