Berniece P. Smith

1925-2008

Berniece P. Smith, 83, of McComb, formally of Greensburg, La., died April 17, 2008, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, until services there at 11 a.m. Bro. Ed Sudduth and Connie Felter will officiate. Burial will be in Gillsburg Cemetery in Gillsburg.

Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Collinsville. She was the daughter of William Thomas and Lula Adale Hodgins Phillips.

She was a homemaker and an active member of Centenary Methodist Church in McComb.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas H. Smith.

Survivors include her son, Thomas “Tommy” H. Smith II and his wife LaWanda of Gillsburg; one daughter, Carol Burris and her husband John of Hammond, La., and four grandchildren, Jessica Burris, Courtney Smith, Charlotte Burris and John Thomas Burris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Beacham Memorial Hospital, 205 N. Cherry St., Magnolia, MS. 39652.
