Clara Juanita Bond Schilling Firmin

Clara Juanita Bond Schilling Firmin, 73, of McComb, died May 30, 2007, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, and 10 a.m. Saturday until services there at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Donnie Bond, the Rev. Alton Foster and the Rev. Wayne Hall officiating. Burial will be in Silver Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Firmin was born Nov. 2, 1933, in Progress. She was the daughter of Ernest James and Rita Smith Bond.

She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church in Walthall County. She served as a pastor's wife for 50 years. Her many accomplishments included 15 years as administrative assistant at the Simpson County Baptist Association in Mendenhall; two terms on the State of Mississippi WMU Executive Board in Jackson; a consultant in literacy with the North American Mission Board in Atlanta; served on the Disaster Relief Team with the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board; led conferences for WMU Directors, the Association of WMU Directors, the Association of Secretaries, the Interfaith Witness, Prayer Retreats, World Mission Conferences, Deacon Wives, Pastor Wives, State Bible Drills and Literacy workshops. She also served 18 months as Interim Director of Missions for the Mississippi Baptist Association in Liberty; five years as Christian Social Ministries/Church and Community Director for the Pike County Baptist Association in McComb; 12 years as secretary of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department and served on mission trips to Antigua, Venezuela, Ukraine, Austria, California, Nevada, Texas, Montana and many other areas.

Mrs. Firmin was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, the Rev. H. Glen Schilling; and one son, Ronnie Glen Schilling.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Nathan M. Firmin of McComb; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Ray Taylor, and Bonnie and James Jackson, all of McComb; one brother, the Rev. Donnie Bond and wife Dimple of Shawnee, Okla.; one sister, Glinda Craft and husband James of Osyka; one granddaughter and husband, Micheline and Wes McCullough of McComb; three grandsons, Chris Taylor and wife Cate of Blountsville, Ala., Joey Taylor and wife Christy, and Jamie Jackson, all of McComb; five great-grandchildren, Chloe', Karrington and Carley Taylor, Austin and Clara-Beth McCullough, all of McComb; one step-great-grandson, Caden Ruple of McComb; 12 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three stepsons and their wives, Nathan Eugene and Teresa Firmin of Grapevine, Texas, David and Connie Firmin of Ellisville and Paul and Tammy Firmin of Washington, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ray Taylor, James Jackson, Chris Taylor, Joey Taylor, Jamie Jackson, Wes McCullough, Tommy Myers and Mike Brister. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Eugene Firmin, David Firmin, Paul Firmin, Jared Firmin, Steven Firmin, Michael Firmin, Brady Firmin, Samuel Firmin and Titus Firmin.
