Ronald “Sonny” Alan Raley, 69, of McComb, died Dec. 16, 2006, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. today until services there at 10 a.m. Gwyn Waycaster officiated. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Raley was born Jan. 6, 1937, in McComb. He was the son of the late Alton Dryfuss Raley and the late Audrey Lambright Raley.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel in New Orleans and Magruder Oil Company. He was a member of Storehouse Church in McComb.
“He was an active member of the storehouse church. He loved to cook for his family. His grandkids always looked forward to his home cooked meals.
“His gentle yet strong spirit touched the lives of everyone around him. he was especially fond of his daily visits from his grandson Dylan, granddaughter Holly and his daughter Carmen.
“He always had a story to tell from by gone days or just something that always made you laugh and feel better about yourself. In spite of all of his set backs he never let it get the best of him.
“As a father and grandfather he was an inspiration and role model of life to be God centered and positive in spite of diversity. He will be truly missed; we will walk by his side one day on the streets of heaven.”
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen Raley Woodall and Todd Woodall of McComb; one son and daughter-in-law, Dewitt A. Raley and Nicole Raley of Leesburg, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Lendolph and Kay Raley of Baytown, Texas; six grandchildren, Heather Parker, Holly Jones, Dylan Jones, Robby Woodall, Blake Woodall and Nick Moncoda; a niece and her husband, Andrea R. Keefer and Ray; and three great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Alred, Dylan Jones, Mike Jones, Abe Reeves, Bobby Brown, Aaron “Doc” Johnson, Garret Ratcliff and Robby Woodall.
