Penny Jo Phillips

1953-2007

Penny Jo Phillips, 53, of Magnolia, and formerly of Harmony, Pa., died May 6, 2007.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smitty Buie Campground in Magnolia. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Dec. 6, 1953, in Lawrence County, Penn. She was the daughter of the late DeVona and Harvey Stewart.

Her grandparents emigrated from Germany and England in the 1920’s and settled in Zelienople, Pa.

Ms. Phillips chose a unique profession as one of the few professional traveling sign painters in the USA. While based in Magnolia, she traveled and painted in all contiguous 48 states in America and Mexico and Canada.

A connoisseur of life, she never experienced a dull moment and never allowed those around her to either. She embraced everyday of her life with an unquenchable thirst. She lived as an artist, carefully scrutinizing everything in her path, open to the wonders of it all.

Her heart was true and as big as the world.

She maintained her enormous capacity to love and be loved throughout a lifetime filled with the stuff of novels.

She was always ready to help those around her flourish. While she did not suffer fools gladly, she easily accepted the folly of those she cared for.

She was the best kind of friend. She could help you dream big dreams, a toastmaster for the world of All Things Possible.

Her wit, wisdom and boundless affection will be missed by all that knew her.
