James Ford McKenzie, Sr., 84, of Magnolia, died Dec. 10, 2006, at his residence.
Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb and 9 a.m. Thursday until services there at 11 a.m., with Dr. David Millican officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Rhodus Cemetery in Magnolia.
Mr. McKenzie was born August 4, 1922, in Pike County, to Lucis A. and Emma Lavisa Varnado McKenzie.
He was a retired maintenance man for American Box Company and a former night watchman at Fernwood Industries. He was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church.
Mr. McKenzie was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a former prisoner of war, having fought in Normandy, and was awarded the purple heart.
Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary F. McKenzie; six brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include two sons, James F. McKenzie, Jr. of McComb and Phillip E. McKenzie of Gettysburg, Pa.; three daughters, Brenda M. Rhodus and Margaret M. Gill, both of Magnolia, and Sherral Hepler of Carriere; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
