Marie “Nanny Mae” May, 86, of McComb, died March 11, 2008, at
McComb Nursing and Rehab. Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Jones
Family Funeral Services in McComb, then 11 a.m. Friday until
services there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Marvin Howard Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.
Mrs. May was born Jan. 10, 1922, in the Berrytown community. She was
the daughter of the late Frank and Mittie Jernigen Adams and the
last of 13 siblings.
She was a homemaker and a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. May was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilton
May; a son, James D. May; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Greer and husband Wiley of
McComb; a daughter-in-law, Peggy May; four grandchildren, Ed May and
wife Sophia, and Lee Ann Cunningham and husband Dale, all of McComb,
Jimmy May and wife Amy of Meadville and Brad Greer and wife Jennifer
of Batesville; five great-grandchildren, Adam Keene, Jonathan May,
Summer May, Justin May and Austin May; and a great-great-grandchild,
Austin Keene.
Pallbearers will be Adam Keene, Jonathan May, Ed May, Jimmy May,
Dale Cunningham and Brad Greer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons, P.O. Box
437, McComb MS. 39649.
