Marjorie Buford Kimble

1923-2007

Marjorie Buford Kimble, 83, of McComb, died March 26, 2007, at her residence.

Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb. Visitation continues 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.J White Memorial Presbyterian Church until services there at 3 p.m., with Dr. Lane Stephenson and Mr. Charles Ray officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Kimble was born July 18, 1923, in Helena, Ark., and grew up in Memphis, Tenn. She was the daughter of Andrew Sloan Buford and Ella D. Rowland Buford.

A longtime resident of McComb, she was a member of J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a retired bookkeeper for Newton James Insurance Agency. An avid golfer in retirement, she served as treasurer of the Fernwood Ladies Gold Association and was a member of the Mississippi Seniors Golf Association. Mrs. Kimble also was a member of the Parnassus Club and the Sweet Sixteen Bridge Group.

During retirement she enjoyed art classes with her friend, Carolyn Ray. She was selected as the Enterprise-Journal’s Mother of the Year in 1999 after being nominated by her three daughters and several close friends.

Mrs. Kimble was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Donald, Rowland and Benny Buford, all of Memphis.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, David Kimble of McComb; three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Harry Young of McComb, Laura and Dale Fahner of Hazlehurst and Marsha and Terry Adams of Hammond, La.; seven grandchildren and two grandsons-in-law, Kimble and Jeffrey Clark of Madison, Clancy and Micah Davis of Houston, Texas, Kristen Fahner of Austin, Texas, David Fahner of Metairie, La., Emily Fahner of Hazlehurst and Lindsay Hagan and Beth Hagan of Hammond; and five great-grandchildren, Will, Charlie and Sarah Kimble, Olivia Clark and Adam Davis.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Harry Young, Dale Fahner and Terry Adams; grandson, David Fahner; and grandsons-in-law, Jeffrey Clark and Micah Davis.
