Billy Joe Johnson, 45, of Magnolia, died Feb. 3, 2007, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in McComb.
Visitation is 6 to 10 tonight at East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia and 10 a.m. Wednesday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Emon White will officiate. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery in Magnolia. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was born March 31, 1961, in Bunkie, La. He was the son of James Lafayette Johnson and Helen May, both of Magnolia.
Mr. Johnson’s family said he was always out making his rounds visiting with friends and relatives, whom he loved spending time with, always laughing and having a good time. “He had a heart of gold and put a smile on the faces of everyone he knew, regardless if they wanted to smile or not. To know him was to love him.”
He worked for McComb Rent All and was a U.S. Army veteran. His family said he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ellry and Yvonne Brown; and his paternal grandparents, Casey and Marie Johnson.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, James Lafayette Johnson and Sonya of Magnolia; his mother and stepfather, Helen May and Ronald of Magnolia; step-grandmother, Lenora Johnson of Magnolia; a son, Christopher Johnson of Brookhaven; a daughter, Maria Johnson of Summit; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Casey and Jan Johnson of McComb, and Jamie Johnson and Albert and Christy May, all of Magnolia; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Walley Bailey of Magnolia, Chasity and Bobby Brumfield of Jayess, Karen and Clint Moak of Meridian and Emily and Greg Bennett of Brookhaven; two grandchildren, Hayden and Haylea of Summit; 13 nephews and three nieces who were very special to him; and many other relatives and friends he loved.
Pallbearers will be Aaron “Poppy” Lang, Dewayne Hughes Sr., Dewayne Hughes Jr., Andy Lewis, Billy Pinter and Joe Brekeen. Honorary pallbearers will be Lovell Roberts, Wallace Bailey, Kye Kelley, Albert May, Bobby Brumfield, Robbie Boyd and Charles Wayne Freeman.
