Jessie Earl Leonard

1941-2008

Jessie Earl Leonard, 67, of Summit, died April 11, 2008, at his home after a lengthy illness. Visitation is 2 p.m. today at Jones Family Funeral Services until services there at 4. The Rev. Mike Morris and the Rev. Eric Naquin will officiate.

Mr. Leonard was born May 12, 1941, in McComb to Buel and Lorena Boyd Leonard.

Mr. Leonard was a boilermaker with Union Local No. 583 of Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Nazarene Christian Faith Church. He loved to fish and hunt, and he loved his dogs. His family said he was a wonderful, loving and caring husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed by all.

Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John R. Leonard; and two sisters, Ruth Leonard and Lurlea Coker.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Raylene Leonard; two sons, Randall Earl Leonard of Walker, La., and Kerry Dewayne Leonard and wife Mary of Livingston, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela Deer Miller and Billy of Osyka; two stepsons, Donnie Dickerson Jr. and wife Christi of Tylertown and Ronald Ray Howell and wife Sherri of Jefferson City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Sonya and husband Billy Woodall of Tylertown and Patricia Bowers and husband Wayne of Jayess; a brother and sister-in-law, Mack “Buddy” and Betty Leonard of Summit; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Francis and H.B. “Smoky” Coker, and Bobbie and Eddie Sorrow, all of Summit, and Jimmie Box of Eupora; grandchildren, Sherri Star Deer, Jeffrey Todd Deer, Shawn Dale Leonard, Christopher Leonard, Coty Dewayne Leonard, Cameron Blake Leonard, Justin Earl Helton, Jessica Daniel Helton, Dustin Dickerson, Austin Dickerson and Tyler Bowers; great grandchildren, Alexie and Jocelyn Bezar and Kaylie Leonard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
