Robert Brooks Huhn

1957-2007

Robert Brooks Huhn, 49, of the Enon community, died March 10, 2007, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after a yearlong battle with lymphoma.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Enon Baptist Church and continues there Monday from 10 a.m. until services at 11. The Revs. Bendon Ginn, Farris “Buddy” Smith and David Hedden will officiate. Music will be provided by Phillip Alford, Vanessa King and Jocile Martin. Burial will follow at Enon cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Huhn was born May 11, 1957, in Sylacauga, Ala., to Louie and Grace Boyd Huhn.

He grew up at Enon, graduated from Tylertown High School and attended Copiah-Lincoln Vocational Technical Center. He was employed by District 7 of the Mississippi Department of Transportation for 28 years.

His family said he took great pride in his work and loved his MDOT family. In 2005, Mr. Huhn was honored by MDOT with the Distinguished Service Award. He became a Christian at age 14 and has been active at Enon Baptist Church, serving on the hostess committee for 15 years. He was a charter member of the Enon Volunteer Fire Department, serving with dedication to this community effort for 28 years. When the call came through, he was among the first to go with a “full-speed-ahead” attitude. Mr. Huhn was a humble person with a servant lifestyle. He had a deep faith in God and delighted in helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include by the family he dearly loved, his parents of Enon, a sister and brother-in-law, Tina Beth and James Hahn of Decatur, Ala.; a niece and nephew, Leslie and Lawson Hahn of Decatur; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Pallbearers will be friends from the MDOT crew and the Enon Volunteer Fire Department.

Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins, Keith Thornhill of Hattiesburg, Kyle Thornhill of Denver, Kim Boyd of Tylertown, Tim Allred of Meridian, Jeff and Eddie Campbell of Prairieville, La., and Ryan Boyd of Cottontown, Tenn.
