Linda Bingham Hays, 67, of Chatawa, died May 11, 2008, at
Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. Memorial
services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Graceway Church of the Nazarene,
Old Brookhaven Road in Summit, Dr. David Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery in Milton, Wis. Jones Family
Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hays was born June 27, 1940, in Janesville, Wis., to Charles
Elton and Ruth Constance Shaw Bingham. She was a member of Seventh
Day Baptist Church in Chatawa. She earned a bachelor of arts degree
from Milton College. She and her husband and brother in-law were
instrumental in starting a continuing program of voluntary Christian
service for SDB young people. They also founded and operated for 30
years the Sunshine Mountain Home for handicapped persons at Chatawa,
where Mrs. Hays served as church pianist and was a Sabbath school
teacher and deaconess.
Mrs. Hays was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43
years, Jack Floyd Hays; a sister, Mary L. Briggs; and a brother,
Charles E. Bingham.
Survivors include a son, Jack F. “Jay” Hays of Chatawa; two
daughters, Jennifer L. Bond and husband Keith of Chatawa and
Constance C. Warren of McComb; two sisters, Ruth C. Berger of
Janesville, Wis. and Holly B. Alexander of Phoenix, Ariz.; a
brother, Stephen B. Bingham of Alpine, Ariz.; and six grandchildren,
Jordan and Kacie Bond, Jaye and Clayton Warren and Bryan and Connor
Hays.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer
Society or the Seventh Day Baptist denomination.
