Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb and noon Sunday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rick Kennedy, Dr. David Millican and Dr. Danny Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born June 29, 1932, in Starke, Fla., to Paul and Ida Wagnon Howard.
He served two terms on the McComb City Board of Selectmen and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was the manager of Traditional Jewelers in Edgewood Mall and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church in Summit.
Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward Lewey; and a sister, Mary Lewey Steele.
Survivors include his wife, Ilene McCaskell Howard of McComb; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Beth Howard and Beth of Gulfport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Howard Yarborough and Abear of Kentwood, La., and Dinah Howard Hutson and Mark of Mars Hill; seven grandchildren, Justin, Hillary, Caroline and Haley Howard, all of Gulfport, Joshua Yarborough of Kentwood, and KayCee Hutson and Mark Douglas Hutson and wife Kimberly, all of Mars Hill; and a great-grandson, Bryce Hutson of Mars Hill
