Tommy Gatlin

1946-2007

Thomas Gatlin, 60, of Atlanta and formerly of McComb, died Feb. 16, 2007 at his residence of a heart condition.

Visitation will be noon Tuesday at Jones Family Funeral Service in McComb until services there at 2 p.m. The Revs. Joe Felder and Ron West will officiate. Burial will be in Felder’s Memorial cemetery in Summit.

Mr. Gatlin was born Aug. 26, 1946, in McComb to Paul and Dalpha DeCoux of McComb and Tom Gatlin of Belleville, Ill.

He was an entrepreneur. He graduated from McComb High School in 1964 and attended Southwest Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University. He had a long and fulfilling career in the building products industry after his attendance at Mississippi State. His family said he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather and a consummate professional.

Mr. Gatlin was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo P. DeCoux.

Survivors included his wife, Lynn P. Gatlin; one son, John Gatlin; two daughters, Jill Gatlin, and Greta Gatlin Van and husband Jeffrey; two grandchildren, Hunter and Gracie Gatlin, all of Atlanta; a sister, June Hart and husband Barry, all of McComb; three brothers, Sammy DeCoux of McComb, Jim Gatlin and wife Shirley of Birmingham, Ala., and Bill Gatlin of Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Reeves, Robbie DeCoux, James Carol Copeland, Jamie Hart, Dan Price, Steve Magee, Jack Price, and Alfred Felder.

Lynn, I just wanted you to know that I saw that Tommy went home to be with the Lord. I am so sorry! It is so hard to understand. Please know that my heart breaks for you and your family.
