Charles “Sonny” Farnham

1932-2008

Charles “Sonny” Farnham, 76, died April 29, 2008, at the Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, until services there at 11 a.m. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Burial will be in Pike Memorial Gardens in McComb.

Mr. Farnham was born Jan. 30, 1932, in McComb, to John D. and Sarah Lee Owens Farnham.

He was of the Baptist faith and a 1950 graduate of McComb High School. He was a local businessman for 45 years, working in grocery retail and later owning Farnham’s Grocery, which he bought in 1970 from his parents. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served honorably in the Korean War.

Mr. Farnham was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Bill Farnham.

Survivors include his wife of 57½ years, Ethel Anderson Farnham; his mother, Sarah of McComb; two daughters, Loni Johnston and husband Keith of Pensacola, Fla., and Jan Pigott and husband Wayne of McComb; five grandchildren, Lacy, Katy and Matt Johnston, Bryan Pigott and Brooke Nelson and her husband Russ; a great-grandchild, Laine Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Pigott, Matt Johnston, Wayne Pigott, Keith Johnston, Wallace Pope and Russ Nelson.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Suite H., Jackson, MS 39216, or to a charity of choice.
